6-Year-Old Boy Who Was Mauled While Saving Sister From Dog Attack Has His Scars Transformed By Doctors

A 6-year-old boy who was viciously mauled by a dog as he protected her sister from the animal has had his scars transformed by a doctor. Bridger Walker was left with terrible wounds on his face following the attack which required 90 stitches to close. His recovery was thought to be a lengthy process and it was believed he would be left with many scars. However, several doctors have come forward to help in any way they can, free of charge.
Two well-known dermatologists wanted to help Bridger. Dr. Dhaval Bhanusali and Dr. Cory B. Maughan were so touched by the little boy’s incredible act of heroism and caring for his sister that they wanted to help him in any way they could at no cost to his family. Dr. Sandra Lee, also known as Dr. Pimple Popper, was also called in to help help Bridger feel calm about the situation.
High-tech laser treatments are responsible for Bridger’s improvement. The little boy, from Cheyenne, Wyoming, is having a series of laser treatments to make the scars on his face less visible. “Every once in a while, we come across patients who do more for us than we can ever do for them,” Dr. Bhanusali told the Daily Mail. “Bridger inspired me and in a time where so much negativity was surrounding the world, he provided hope and represented all that is good.”
The doctors were more than happy to volunteer their services to such a hero. “It is my greatest privilege to try and help, and while a few of us may get the credit, this story is more about the dermatology world coming together to help a little boy who is truly a hero,” Dr. Bhanusali continued. “We are fortunate to be in a place where we can help heal and I’m just thankful to be part of this wonderful dermatology community.”
Dr. Lee was extra excited to greet one of her biggest fans. It’s crazy to think a 6-year-old would be into Dr. Pimple Popper, but maybe not – kids sometimes like gross stuff, right? Well, when Dr. Lee learned that Bridger loved her work, she was all too happy to pop in and say hello. “How could I say no? It’s so wonderful that both Dr. Bhanusali and Dr. Maughan are helping him improve his scars,” she said. “Although I am not directly involved in his care, if I can do anything to make Bridger more comfortable and remind him what a brave, kind, good young man he is, I’m there.”
The treatments Bridger is undergoing are making a massive difference. As his dad Robert told the American Academy of Dermatology Association: “After going above and beyond to provide support, encouragement, and expert care, Dr. Bhanusali reinforced our appreciation for the life-changing care that dermatologists provide. My family will always be grateful to him for finding an innovative treatment solution to help our son. Bridger won’t be constantly reminded of the attack when looking in the mirror and can return to his childhood, nearly unscarred.” You go, Bridger!
