A mom of five girls has insisted she’ll never teach them about the concept of virginity as she believes it’s a “patriarchal concept that serves no purpose.” TikToker Cayce LaCarte, also known as @book_mama, said she’s raising her daughters to refuse the idea of virginity altogether rather than buying into societal ideas that only serve to reduce women’s equality and rights. Good for her!

Cayce says virginity only makes women feel bad about themselves. After all, how often are women slut-shamed for having or – God forbid! – enjoying sex the same way men do all the time? No one ever judges men for having sex, but women who do it are seen as harlots or somehow “less than” for forsaking their “purity” by daring to take part in a natural act. That just leads to women feeling terrible about themselves for no real reason.

Having sex doesn’t change your worth. As Cayce explained, it makes literally zero difference whether you’ve had sex or you haven’t – that doesn’t affect your worth in the slightest. “It is a patriarchal concept used to control women and serves no purpose – other than making women feel bad about ourselves,” she explained in a now-viral video. “Just because some guy randomly sticks his penis in you at some point in your life does not change your worth, it does not change who you are, it doesn’t do anything other than it happened.”
