The Kano State Hisbah Board and the state Association of Event Centres have agreed to work together to rid all event centres of immoral acts.

Malam Lawan Ibrahim, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Hisbah Board, said in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday, May 4, in Kano.

It said that the two organisations agreed to work together when the Chairperson of the association, Hajiya Fatima Abdulsalam, visited the board.

They agreed that the focus should be on immoral dances and related actions during weddings, naming ceremonies and similar events.

The two organisations said that the intervention was necessary to save the youth from embracing acts inimical to societal growth and development.

The statement said that the Commander-General of the Hisbah board, Dr Harun Ibn-Sina, pledged to work with all events centres during and after the Eid-el-Fitr, to sustain orderliness in the state

He expressed satisfaction with the visit and urged all event centres to bring order and discipline in their operation.

Meanwhile, the House of Reps has urged the Inspector General of Police (I-G) to take over the investigation as well as prosecution of the alleged killer of Miss Iniubong Ephraim Umoren.

The resolution was sequel to a unanimous adoption of a motion by Rep. Unyime Idem (PDP-Akwa Ibom) at the Reps plenary on Tuesday, May 4.

Moving the motion, Idem said that on April 30, the Anti-kidnapping Squad of the police command in Akwa Ibom received a report on the disappearance of Umoren.

He also said that Umoren, an unemployed graduate of the University of Uyo, left her house on a fateful day in search of employment.

According to him, available information has it that she received a phone call from the assailant; who pretentiously called her and likewise invited her to a false interview for an advertised job.
