Chief Clement Ojukwu, National Organising Secretary, Anambra Labour Party, has called on the abductors of the party’s candidate, Mr Obiorah Agbadimalo to set him free.
DAILY POST had reported that Mr Obiorah Agbadimalo was kidnapped on September 18 on his way from Ezinifitte Nnewi South Local Government Area to Azhia in Ihiala Local Government Area while campaigning.
The former banker had flagged off his governorship campaign in Onitsha with a huge attendance, which surprised many of those who were seeing him as a greenhorn in politics.
Ojukwu in a statement he personally signed on Tuesday said that the Anambra governorship election for the party has come and gone with its success stories of no blood-letting as was highly envisaged by the public.
He said that the Anambra Governorship Election, which was peacefully conducted on Saturday 6th November, was keenly contested by the candidates of all the registered Political Parties without any record of violence or loss of lives.
“We at the labour party return all the glory to God Almighty,” he said.
He reminded the public that their governorship candidate was kidnapped on September 18 and that he had remained in the hands of the abductors.
“Chief Obiora Agbasimelo has not been set free by his kidnappers till date. His absence greatly affected Labour Party and the morale of its teeming supporters.
“His vibrant, youthful nature , well-educated and informed Campaign strategy and oratory rattled the opposition and gave the masses great hope of a landslide victory in the Election.
“Unfortunately, he was kidnapped and kept away from Campaigns, debates and discussions prior to the Election. Today, the Election has come and gone.
“On behalf of our great Labour Party, our teeming supporters and his wife, children and family, we humbly and most passionately appeal and beg the kidnappers to kindly set him free.
“We Kindly appeal to the abductors to release him to rejoin his troubled family and traumatised wife and children after a very long hostage and exclusion from the rest of humankind.
“We make this appeal in the name of God Almighty and believe that our appeal will yield positive result to the glory of God.
“We urge all good-spirited human beings in the state to join us in this clarion call,” NAN quoted him as saying.
Meanwhile, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, was declared winner of the election after a supplementary election was conducted in Ihiala Local Government Area on Tuesday.
Imo govt gives old Owerri Timber market traders four weeks ultimatum
The Imo State Government has given traders at the old Owerri Timber market (Ogba Osisi) Wetheral road, a four-week ultimatum to leave.
The ultimatum was given on Monday through the General Manager of the Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA), Engr. Francis Onyedikachi Chukwu, during a routine inspection with his team.
Chukwu said the Imo State Government mapped out a permanent site for the traders at Naze Timber market, Owerri North LGA.
He said their stay at the old Owerri Timber market is causing obstruction to the master plan of the capital city.
The GM pleaded with them to adhere to the order, as failure to move in the next one month will amount to them losing their wares.
OCDA said that it was imperative for government to do the needful to sanitize the state and avert danger to life and property.
EPL: What Ralf Rangnick said after becoming Man United manager
Manchester United’s new interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, has expressed happiness after joining the club.
DAILY POST reports that Man United officially announced Rangnick as their new interim manager on Monday.
Rangnick’s appointment comes less than 24 hours after Man United played a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in a Premier League tie on Sunday evening.
Reacting to his appointment, Rangnick, said his efforts for the next six months at Old Trafford will be on helping Man United players fulfill their potential, both individually and, most importantly, as a team.
“I am excited to be joining Manchester United and focused on making this a successful season for the club,” Rangnick told the club’s official website.
“The squad is full of talent and has a great balance of youth and experience. All my efforts for the next six months will be on helping these players fulfil their potential, both individually and, most importantly, as a team.
“Beyond that, I look forward to supporting the club’s longer-term goals on a consultancy basis.”
EPL: Ex-Chelsea assistant coach questions Tuchel’s late substitutions against Man United
Former Chelsea assistant manager Jody Morris has questioned Thomas Tuchel’s use of his substitutes during their draw with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Chelsea managed a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League clash on Sunday with Jadon Sancho pouncing on a poor touch from Jorginho to put the visitors ahead.
Jorginho then made amends for his blunder 20 minutes later when he equalised for Chelsea from the spot.
Tuchel waited until the 78th minute to introduce the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic from the bench.
And Morris, who was Frank Lampard’s assistant, criticised the Blues boss, insisting that the German could have made his substitutions earlier and killed the game off.
He told Stadium Astro: “From a fan’s perspective, I would definitely have liked a couple if not all three changes at the top end of the pitch a lot earlier.
“I just felt that with the amount of dominance Chelsea had they weren’t creating enough real good chances.
“The fact you have the level of bench that Chelsea had, there was no reason why at least two of them could have been brought on a lot earlier.
“I thought Lukaku was the perfect addition but that’s without knowing the physical capabilities he has right now. He might not have had more than the manager gave him.
“It’s always easier to say after the game but we were slightly surprised that Tuchel didn’t make changes earlier.”
Chelsea face Watford in their next Premier League game while the Red Devils welcome Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side at Old Trafford.
Chelsea still maintained their lead in the table on 30 points just one behind Manchester City who defeated West Ham 2-1 to leapfrog Liverpool at the weekend.
