Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has backed Manchester City to lift the Premier League title this season ahead of Chelsea and Liverpool.

Chelsea managed a 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday to keep their place at the top of the table.

But Manchester City’s 2-1 win over West ham meant that Chelsea are now only one point ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side .

Liverpool, who thrashed Southampton 4-0 earlier on Saturday, are just two points off the top.

Carragher noted that both Chelsea and Liverpool have been impressive so far but still tipped City to defend their title.

Carragher added, “It’s been a good weekend for Liverpool but they’ve dropped some silly points this season so I’m with Roy, I think I’d probably just go with Man City.

“Liverpool have kept a few clean sheets but they’ve looked a bit open at times. I think Man City right now look really strong defensively. Liverpool are scoring all the goals but I’d go with Man City right now.”

Chelsea vs Man United: It was arrogance – Hasselbaink slams Jorginho

Former Chelsea striker, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has slammed midfielder, Jorginho after his error led to Manchester United’s goal.

Jorginho gifted Jadon Sancho his first Premier League goal for Manchester United, with Chelsea having to come from a goal down to take a point at Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian-Italian was at fault for the Red Devils’ goal after failing to deal with a high ball that was sent forwards by Bruno Fernandes.

The midfielder’s attempt to bring down the high ball with his foot backfired with Sancho racing on goal before calmly slotting the ball past Edouard Mendy.

And Hasselbaink wondered why Jorginho did not just clear it or head it back to his goalkeeper.

“He should head it, he should head it back. You can’t take that chance and if you do it has to come off,” Hasselbaink said on Sky Sports.

“…It’s not a bit of arrogance…It is arrogance.

“Thinking ‘oh I will take it down out of the sky and play,’ no. Two men are coming at you, just head the ball back and get people behind the ball.

“Sancho takes the goal really well but this, you don’t do it.

“Also, you know yourself… yes technically he is a very good player but he is not somebody who is blessed with pace so he’s never going to be able to get behind Sancho so you don’t take the risk.

“Just head it back, have people behind you and don’t get a goal against [you] and you still have to score one goal to win the match. It’s silly.”

Manchester United legend, Roy Keane and Jamie have both predicted that Manchester City would win the Premier League this season ahead of title rivals Chelsea and Liverpool.

While Chelsea settled for a 1-1 with Manchester United on Sunday, Manchester City brushed aside stubborn West Ham United 2-1 to close the gap in the Premier League to just one point.

Chelsea still maintain their lead at the summit with just one point ahead of Manchester City while Liverpool are just two points off the top after their empathic 4-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday.

Keane said he has been impressed by the form of Chelsea and Liverpool but still believes City will defend their title and become English champions for an eighth time.

Keane told Sky Sports, “I kind of wrote off Manchester City last year and regretted it because they turned it on from November and won it so easily.

“Liverpool have kept a few clean sheets but they’ve looked a bit open at times. I think Man City right now look really strong defensively. Liverpool are scoring all the goals but I’d go with Man City right now.”
