Dapo Abiodun Intentionally Weaponised Bad Roads Against Ogun Residents, Says PDP

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Ogun State chapter, have accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of weaponising dilapidated roads in the state against the residents he promised to protect following the recent tanker explosion at Lafenwa that claimed two lives.

According to a statement made available to newsmen by PDP Publicity Secretary, Akinloye Bankole, who said Abiodun has turned deaf ears to the party several calls on road repair, maintained the tragic Lafenwa Market inferno that killed a woman and her grandchild wouldn’t have occurred if the government prioritise good roads.

The statement partly read: “ The governor intentionally weaponised dilapidated roads against the very people it swore to protect. There is no gainsaying that the incident in which a truck loaded with PMS overturned could have possibly been avoided if the Dapo Abiodun government had heeded our party’s several calls on the need to make the Lafenwa-Ayetoro road passable before now.”

“It is indeed worrisome to note that as the state still grieves in the face of widespread activities of members of secret cults across the state, we have a case of large scale inferno presently, struggling for wicked attention.

“Therefore, with all sense of compassion, we urge the good people of Ogun state to take solace in the fact that this era of deliberate insensitivity manifestly demonstrated by the sinking APC government would not last. It can not guarantee safety of lives and property.

“We hereby call on the people to continue to organize their energy while they remain calm and law abiding. Every shade of agony which the ruling APC government represents will soon be over.”

Meanwhile, Governor Abiodun, in his condolence message to victims said the road was “redesigned and being rebuilt to avoid such sad occurrences,” saying efforts will be put in place to ensure that fuel-laden tankers have no hindrance in navigating the rail line axis of Lafenwa.

Seriki Fulani in Ibarapaland, Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir, who was evicted from his Igangan residence this day last year says the daring nature of Sunday Adeyemo, a Yoruba youth leader better known as Sunday Igboho, is why he is opposed to his release.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the evicted Sarkin Fulani who has relocated to Ilorin, Kwara State since the incident while speaking on the earlier quit notice issued by Igboho prior to his eviction, explained that he did not handle the eviction notice with levity. According to him, he got assurance from the Oyo state government after the quit notice but he was surprised that Igboho carried out his threat without anybody challenging him.

He told Daily Trust in a report published on Saturday: “For those seven days, the state government sent 14 police officers to us and they were guiding us but the police officers were overpowered by Sunday Igboho’s men. This is why I don’t support the call for the release of Igboho.

“I am sure he must be regretting his actions now. Any Nigerian can live in any part of the country and I have always said that there are criminals everywhere. There are criminals among Yoruba just like we have among the Fulani people. This is where we expected the government to come in and fish out those who are criminally minded.”

Abdulkadir said one year later, he still hoped that justice would be served and he would be compensated for the properties lost during the crisis.

Igboho is currently being detained in a prison facility in the Republic of Benin, after he was arrested with Ropo, his wife, at Cardinal Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou, while on his way to Germany in July 2021. He had been declared wanted by Nigerian authorities for his separatist activities.

Igboho’s wife has since been released.

2023: ‘Leave me out of national politics’, Gani Adams warns

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has warned those using his name for political mileage to leave him out of their attempts ahead of the 2023 general elections.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the 2023 Nigerian elections will be held, in large part, on 18 February 2023 (tentative date). During this presidential election year, the President and Vice President will be elected with incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari being term-limited.
According to Adams, he is interested in restructuring Nigeria — not politics.

“I hold strongly to my belief and ideology of restructuring that is centred on regionalism, where the federating units are allowed to develop at their own pace,” media reports quote Adams as saying on Friday.

“I have said it several times that both the 1960 and 1963 constitutions had created the template for which Nigeria could be restructured.

“And up till date, nothing has changed in the country, even as the 2023 elections draw nearer.

“I have noticed with dismay that as elections draw closer, prospective political aspirants will be using my name to sell their candidates to the people.

“However, I will not allow anybody to stake my hard- earned name and credibility to get political mileage.”

Popular Skit Maker, Kiekie Speaks About Her Marriage

Popular skit maker, actress, and content creator, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, known as  Kiekie, has in a recent interview spoken about her marriage.

She said she has decided to keep her marriage private despite her appearances on social media.

She said: “I respect the privacy of my family and marriage, and I do my best to show them to the barest minimum. (I) just (do) the basic things when it’s necessary; maybe birthdays and anniversaries. (I believe that) the less one shares, the better.

“The beautiful thing is that I married a man who understands the concept of marriage, and we have been able to create a balance. When there is something to be done at home, it is not a function of whose job it is, but a function of who is available to do it. When there is something that needs to be done, I just get on it and do it as soon as possible. So, none is affecting the other. I think the baseline here is just to be responsible.

“The most challenging skit I’ve featured in was the one where I had to go inside the water, because I am afraid of water. It was with MC Lively and I had to go inside the water. It was pretty scary for me. More so, there isn’t a set time for skits. Some could take the whole day and some could take two hours. It depends on the script.

“I believe there is no point trying to force someone to accept any opinion expressed through the artistry in my contents. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I simply don’t answer negative comments. If I get one million positive comments, I would reply to as many as I can. And, if I receive one negative comment, I restrict or block (them). I just don’t respond.”
