The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has said that some Nigerians persuaded and pressured President Buhari to run for president.

Garba Shehu said this on Channels TV while reacting to the comment made by President Buhari that he has given his best to Nigeria having served as a governor, a minister, and a president.

Reacting, Shehu said the President was right to have said he had given his best to the country.

“The president can be very casual sometimes in speaking and jovial and jocularly; I think this is what people fail to understand of him. They need to understand how he was persuaded and pressured to even run in the first instance.

He had served as governor, minister and military Head of State and that’s the highest it could get. He had retired home and Nigerians came and said you are the right person for this moment, we need you. It took some persuasion.

So, yes, it is right for the person to say he has given his best and when the time is up, some other person will take over.” he said

Ufuoma Bernard, Bishop, the Godist Church, on Tuesday said gospel singer, Sammie Okposo apologising to his wife publicly is “unnecessary”.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to Bishop Bernard, Okposo’s ‘offence’ is a private matter which shouldn’t have been brought to public limelight. He deemed Okposo’s action “annoying”.

“Sammie Okposo’s apology is unnecessary. What he did was private and bringing it to the public is annoying,” Bernard wrote on his known Facebook page.

It would be recalled that the singer tendered an apology to his wife, Ozioma, and others on Monday while confessing about an intimate relationship he had with a woman when he travelled to the US.

This is as he suspended himself from all ministerial works “until full restoration.”

The singer’s apology read in part, “Dear Friends, I need to bring a very unfortunate incident to your attention as I am not proud of it but know that this is the right thing to do.

“On my recent trip to the USA (Late 2021), I got intimately involved with a lady, knowing that this was not appropriate as a married man and a minister of the gospel. I am ashamed and regret my actions as it has caused a lot of pain to my dear wife, Ozioma, my family and me.

“As I work in making peace with God, repenting and asking His forgiveness, I am suspending myself from all ministry work until full restoration as this is what is proper and what I know I owe God and His people.

“To my wife, Ozioma, I am sincerely sorry I put you through this shameful and embarrassing situation. I broke your trust and disappointed you.”
