The Kano State Government has banned men and women from swimming in the same pool, smoking shisha, and entry of children into hotels.

These laws were enforced by the state’s Task Force on Tourism Development Levy, according to Sahara Reporters.

The Chairman of the Committee, Baffa Dan-Agundi, stated these laws following a meeting with hotel and event centre owners.

He said: “Part of our term of reference is to stop underage children from entering hotels without their parents, banning shisha smoking, swimming between men and women in the pool, lesbianism, and gay practices.

“The committee will further oversee the activities of DJs at wedding ceremonies and event centres. All events centres should be closed by 11 pm.”

Osinbajo Admits To Poor Healthcare System, Says Govt Needs To Improve

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said the government has the primary responsibility to boost the efficiency of the healthcare ecosystem, improve healthcare delivery, stem the brain-drain of health personnel.

Osinbajo stated this on Thursday in his address at the inauguration of the Health Sector Reform Committee, which he chaired, according to a statement by his spokesman, Laolu Akande.

The statement was titled, ‘Modern, People-Centric Healthcare System, Fundamental To President’s Vision For Nigeria’s Growth – VP Osinbajo’.

Emphasising the importance of the committee’s task while recalling Buhari’s vision, Osinbajo, at the virtual event said, “Mr. President, has in several public statements made it clear that a modern, virile and people-centric healthcare system was fundamental to his own vision for socio-economic growth.”

Acknowledging challenges in the health sector, Osinbajo explained that government has the primary responsibility to address the issues “and to put in place the structures and arrangements necessary to boost the efficiency of the healthcare ecosystem, improve healthcare delivery, stem the brain-drain of our health personnel and reduce the pressure on our foreign reserves on account of medical tourism.”

He added, “There have, of course, been a good number of attempts to reform the healthcare system in Nigeria and many of us who are members-designate of this committee are familiar with some of these reform efforts, but this particular journey of reforming the Nigerian health sector (and we have heard, I think quite comprehensively from the Hon Minister of Health) began with the commissioning of a Diagnostic Needs Assessment of the sector.

“Subsequently, the National Council on Privatisation at its meeting of April 12, 2019, approved the appointment of consultants to carry out the assignment, which involved a review of previous reform efforts in the sector, as well as field visits to the 55 Tertiary Health Institutions across the country and some selected sub-regional health institutions.”

Former Secretary to Ekiti State Government, Biodun Oyebanji, on Thursday, clinched the ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State for the June 18 governorship election.

The Chairman, APC Governorship Primary Electoral Committee for Ekiti, and Jigawa State Governor, Abubakar Badaru, who declared Oyebanji winner of the primary election, said the former SSG scored 101,703 votes to defeat other aspirants.

Badaru announced that former governorship aspirant, Kayode Ojo, got 767 votes; National Assembly member, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, scored 760 votes; former Minister of Works, Senator Dayo Adeyeye secured 691votes; House of Representatives member, Femi Bamisile scored 400 votes.

Others are a former House of Representatives member, Bamidele Faparusi, who garnered 376 votes; aviation expert, Demola Popoola got 239 votes; and Oluwasola Afolabi scored 47 votes.

Badaru, who said the election followed the party guidelines, said he had not received any official complaint from any aspirant.

However, earlier in the day, seven of the eight governorship aspirants protested the list of Local Government Electoral Committees for the exercise, saying it contained names of supporters and campaigners of an aspirant, Oyebanji.

The aggrieved aspirants – Bamidele; Adeyeye; Bamisile; Faparusi; Ojo; Popoola; and Afolabi, alongside their supporters stormed the state APC Secretariat where they called on the party national leadership and the Badaru-led committee to suspend the primary.

They stated, “We request that both the Local Government Election Committee and Ward Election Committee as constituted on the list already in circulation is disbanded and replaced with names that would reinforce internal democracy and uphold the aims and objectives of the party”.

The aggrieved aspirants took their grievances to the state headquarters of the Nigeria Police, the Independent National Electoral Commission, and the Department of State Services.

However, Oyebanji described the primary as credible, free, and fair, contrary to the position maintained by his co-contestants, who branded the poll as a sham.

He said that the APC appeal panel would handle any controversial issue surrounding the conduct of the election.

Nollywood actress Regina Daniel has finally addressed the rumors making rounds on social media about her feud with aphrodisiac seller Hauwa Saidu Mohammed popularly known as Jaruma.

The actress in a recent post via her Instagram account on Thursday, stated that Jaruma’s arrest has nothing to do with the failed business deal between herself and Jaruma.

Recall that, the duo had engaged in a heated feud on the internet some months ago, where Jaruma accused Regina of breaching their alleged contract.

However, the actress further revealed how Jaruma initiated some deceitful contents to be portrayed to the public and she was not in support of it because they were against her morals.

She wrote, ‘’I’m writing this because I feel y’all deserve an explanation to the general misrepresentation going around me being paid for a job and was not able to deliver.’’

‘’The fact is that I delivered on the job based on our various discussions. She was to provide contents and I was simply to post on my page. She sent me a draft agreement which I declined to sign because I found some of the terms deceitful but she insisted we proceed on my own terms.’’

‘’Miss Jaruma also came up with different content ideas that were not acceptable to me because they would have been deceitful to me and the public. Such as

1. She wanted a post saying my husband got me the Jaruma chocolates and I clearly said to her to leave my husband out of our discussions.

2. She said she will present me with a cow gift. I was to make videos thanking her, and afterwards return the cow, I was suspicious of the motive and I declined.

3. She wanted to gift me with her outfits and accessories for a video afterwards, to return the items, Again I declined.

4. She suggested to have a failed suicide attempt because I would run to her rescue again it was unacceptable to me.

‘’Our original discussion was to post her adverts for her chocolates brand in my Instagram page. Along the line, she wanted me to personally appear in the contents on an entirely different product of hers which was her waist bead we both considered it sufficient for the payment made.’’

Miss Jaruma ruined every form of agreement or friendship we had when she falsely said to the general public that I was the cause of a major crisis going on in my family I went ahead to message her to take down ... but she didn’t, which led to my first debunked statement.’’

‘’It is one thing to channel your business and hatred around me but it is another to channel your business and hatred to my family.’’

‘’Pls note the petition, arrest and the detention of Haruma had absolutely nothing to do with the business deal between me a d her, but simply arose from the various false and malicious publications against my husband.’’
