Man Jailed For Stealing Casement Window In Ekiti

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, sentenced a 26-year-old man, Friday Ayo, to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour for stealing one complete casement window worth N50,000

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, sentenced Ayo following his guilty plea and facts of the case.

Afunso, however, gave the convict an option of N10,000 fine.

He held that Ayo was a first-time offender and that the items he stole had been recovered.

The prosecutor, Insp Caleb Leramo, had told the court that Ayo committed the theft on April 21 in Ado-Ekiti.

Leramo said that the police found one complete casement window worth N50,000 in possession of the convict.

According to the prosecutor, the police suspected the item to have been stolen by Ayo.

He added that the convict confessed to the crime and the police recovered the window from him.

According to him, stealing contravenes Section 345 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2021. (NAN).
