Microsoft confirms Fall 2022 Surface event on October 12

Microsoft has confirmed its annual Surface hardware event on October 12, 2022 at 10AM ET. The event’s Save the History webpage is now live, indicating that it won’t be a traditional in-person event and that you can instead “watch live to see what’s next”.

There were already months of rumors leading up to this moment, which were swirling around the next generation Surface Pro 9. Along with this new flagship 2-in-1 tablet, this event is also expected to include the unveiling of the new Surface Laptop 5, Plus an all-in-one computer Surface Studio 3.

On the Surface Pro 9, we recently learned that it could come with new color options, as well as options for both 12th generation Intel U-series CPUs and Microsoft SQ3, which is based on the Arm-based Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor. If you look closely at the Save the History web page, you can even see different colors in the Windows 11 background that likely hint at the new colors, including the rumored new shade of forest green. Other than that, the Surface Studio 3 accessories leaked recently, which indicates that Microsoft is already working on a follow-up to the All-In-One PC. The Surface Laptop 5, though, hasn’t seen much rumors yet, other than suggestions that might come with the Core i5-1235U and Core i7-1255U.

As usual, this event will feature Surface Head and Windows Panos Panay. Also appearing will be Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft. Recently, Panos Panay and Microsoft have already started announcing the next update for Windows 11. Dubbed the Windows 11 2022 Update, it brings quality-of-life features like folders in the start menu, improvements to snap layouts, and a task manager. Some features are also slated to appear later in October by dropping the feature. Any devices announced on October 12 will be the main way to experience this new version of Windows 11.
