He was originally arraigned on a six-count charge, but two of the charges were dropped following a discussion between the parties. Bobrisky pleaded guilty to a four-count charge.
His case was listed as No. 10 on the court’s docket, presided over by Justice Abimbola Awogboro, who is handling multiple cases today.
After a thorough examination of the case’s details, Justice Abimbola Awogboro found Bobrisky guilty of the charges brought against him.
During his allocutus (statement before sentencing), Bobrisky informed the court that he was unaware of the laws prohibiting the abuse of the Naira.
He described himself as a social media influencer with a substantial following of over five million people.
The judge then told him that ignorance of the law was not an excuse.
He said,
“I know, My Lord. My Lord, I wish that you could give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money.
“I would do a video on my page and I will educate people about spraying money.
“I will not repeat it again. I regret my actions.”
